Harry’s House Book Tag | The album of sequins, highways, and rose colored glasses.

If I could perfectly describe a peaceful day, it would most likely include waking up after a night’s restful sleep, sipping coffee from one of your favorite mugs, and listening to a Harry Styles album.

Fashion choices aside, I think the least you can agree with is that Harry Styles’s discography is quite something. His music has the uncanny ability to conjure up visceral sensations and feelings, and it’s often because of a stellar mix of brilliant songwriting and music production.

I’m hoping his next single is either “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” or “Daydreaming”.

In true bookish behaviour, I instantly wanted to create a book tag inspired by his latest album, so here’s my take on Harry’s House Book Tag.

Harry’s House Book Tag

MUSIC FOR A SUSHI RESTAURANT — A book with a “ride or die” type of friendship

Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson

When listening to the song I pictured late night car rides, 3AM deli adventures, dancing under the stars, and goofing around in an empty parking lot. Morgan Matson’s Take Me Home Tonight hits the spot. Two best friends in New York City and the wildest night ahead!

LATE NIGHT TALKING — A book you gave a second chance and ended up liking.

1984 by George Orwell

I tend to not give books a second chance but Orwell is a prominent example that I use because his books and writing is nothing short of genius.

GRAPEFRUIT — A book with “something old and red”

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

See it how you will, my first thoughts when hearing this lyric are: red lipstick, vintage red summer dress, and perhaps an antiquated ruby ring. I could definitely see Daisy Jones rocking every single item mentioned with a timeless flair.

AS IT WAS — A book you liked more as a child.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilky

I think it’s plain to see why I outgrew this series lol.

DAYLIGHT — A book with a toxic relationship

At times Rani and Oliver’s relationship was just achingly painful to read about, as a reader you’re much more privy to the power dynamic and imbalance that happens in toxic relationships. The nuanced writing in this story is impeccable.

LITTLE FREAK — A book you wished you DNF’d

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I don’t believe you can waste your time reading any book because you do eventually learn something about yourself and your reading tastes from the experience. Nonetheless The entire Red Queen series is one I could have went without reading, thank you very much.

MATILDA — A book with a character/s that has a lot of trauma

You could probably pick any fantasy character for this one but I scoured my brain for the most traumatic and I thought of Rin from The Poppy War series. Though let’s be honest every single character in that series has it rough.

CINEMA — A book who’s story is just as good as the cover.

A Winter’s Promise by Christelle Dabos

I love the pencil sketch feel you get from the cover image. The detailing is beautiful and the way the title and author’s name is printed and swooped around is really unique.

DAYDREAMING — A series you desperately clung to so it “won’t end”.

I put off reading this book for so long, I’m pretty sure my book got dusted a bit lol.

KEEP DRIVING — A book with a road trip

On the Road by Jack Kerouac

I got this as a birthday gift from my one of my best friends. Haven’t read it but from the cover it feels like the kind of road trip Harry would take you know?

SATELLITE — A book with a side character who deserved better

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.

I still feel so betrayed with Nehemia’s character arc. She deserved a WAY bigger story than that. It still stings.

BOYFRIENDS — A book you have a hate/love relationship with

The Selection by Kiera Cass

I find this to be so binge worthy but also cringy? Like watching your guilty pleasure drama riddled realty tv show.

LOVE OF MY LIFE — A book with a soulmate pairing

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

I am obsessed with this book and this pairing. There isn’t a single word to describe how much I love these two.
