TTT| Top Reasons Why I Love Reading

These are the type of questions that you think is easy to answer at first, it’s like asking someone “why do you like music?”. What do you mean? I can’t envision my life without it and it’s hard for me to articulate in words how much it means to me.

I got some help from authors who wrote beautiful reading and bookish quotes to help me out in this one. I hope you get inspired!

TTT is a fun bookish weekly meme created by theartsyreadergirl where you list your top 10s based on a different theme each week. I’ll link up her TTT if you would like to participate or know more.

Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Reading

Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.

To Kill a mockingbird, Harper lee

This is what I mean by how much I love reading, it is a central part of my life that I can’t imagine without. It’s one of the simple pleasures that gives life its meaning.

A room without books is like a body without a soul.

Marcus Tullius Cicero

People talk about an adrenaline rush while speeding down the highway, others talk about the ecstasy of dancing in the dark, some take refuge in a movie theatre with a bucket of popcorn, but my haven is a room full of my books and a wooly blanket to keep me company. All of these books form the essence of my being and that is why I love reading.

There are those that look at things the way they are and ask why? I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?

George Bernard shaw

Reading and books are not confined by logic or reason, that in itself is very exciting. Not only does it expose you to places you’ve never been before but to worlds that don’t exist. It’s why I love fantasy and take great joy in reading them.

It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them.

Clockwork Prince,Cassandra Clare

The silent companionship of books is like no other; the setting feels like home, the characters become your friends, and for a few pages you are not completely alone.

A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.

A Dance WITH dRAGONS, gEORGE r.r. mARTIN

One of my favorite quotes, it sums up quite nicely I think as to why so many of us read. There’s always an adventure to journey through, a hero to rescue, a story to be told, and new places to de discovered.

You don’t have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.

rAY bRADBURY

I am a believer that reading and books have the power to elevate a culture and also at times educate it and improve on it. Ever heard of the quote: “The pen is mightier than the sword”?

If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking.

Norwegian Wood, Haruki Murakami

Reading helps understand new perspectives from others I would never have understood. It’s always enlightening to expand your horizons by walking in someone else’s shoes.

Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.

 Frederick Douglass

Freedom may mean different things to many of us, but to me reading gives me the escapism I long for when life gets too difficult and when I’m too in my head.

It’s strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book.

The Perks of being a wallflower, Stephen Chbosky

I never realized how important it was to see someone like you being depicted in a book before putting up my own book blog and discovering so many unknown books that had characters that looked like me.

Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life.

Eargon, Christopher Paolini

An unforgettable book alters the meaning and perception of life. An unforgettable book makes you feel things you’ve never felt before. These books are what keeps me reading, in the hopes that I’ll find another one that takes my breath away.
