This my friends is the ultimate book wishlist. This is a collection of the most expensive, rarest books I would own if I was a multi-billionaire. I might have gasped once or twice when I saw the price but there’s no harm in window shopping is there? π π
I tried to get the original pics but some of these editions are really obscure so unless I indicated that it’s the original it’s the closest edition reference I could find.

Top 10 Books I’ll Dream till I Die of Owning
Winnie the Pooh (“The Christopher Robin Books”) – Price: $40,200
First edition, signed by A.A.Milne and original illustrations by E.H. Shepard. Currently I only have this Β£15 museum copy print stuck up on my bedroom wall. Can’t imagine owning the real thing ππ.
Jami Al- Tawarikh “First World History” – Price: $4,700,000
This rare piece has three volumes, both written in Arabic and Persian. Accompanied with illustrations, it is around 400 pages and lists major events from China all the way to Europe, 14th century.
Detective Comics No 27 (Batman’s First Appearance) – Price: $1,075,000
First edition, dated March 1939. Just who knew how iconic this superhero would become? He’s my favorite.
Heinrich Institoris, Malleus maleficarum (aka Hammer of Witches), Price: $221,356.60
Ever heard of the Salem Witch trials? The Wicked Witch? And all of the other Voldemort like examples of black magic, villainy, and witches. This is so fascinating to me as fantasy reader, it is notoriously labelled as “the most important work in demonology”. The dream is to have a first edition copy.
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, 1865 Edition, Price:$2,000,000
This stunning edition has hand made wood engraving, Lewis Caroll’s own notes and 10 original preliminary hand sketches.
The Great Gatsby, Price: $143,608
First edition, first printing, original dust jacket in the original dark green cloth. I’m not really a fan of Fitzgerald as a person but The Great Gatsby really stuck with me, not writes about a spiraling breakdown as elegant as him. Fun fact, Fitzgerald loved the jacket so much in a letter to his publisher dated, 1924 he said: “For Christβs sake donβt give anyone that jacket youβre saving for me. Iβve written it into the book“.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, First edition, Price: $125,000
This edition is in a custom cloth clamshell box, 1847 edition, bound with the publisher’s cloth. And that cover? Stunning.
Dracula, 1897 edition, Price: $75,000
First edition, without the initial advert pages, and impossibly so is it crazy to wish for Bram Stoker’s signature? That will probably push the price to infinity though.
Marvel 1, First issue, Price: $1,260,000
How amazing it is to have the first issue of this iconic universe? Unforgettable to say the least. Dated 1939.
1984, First edition, Price: $12,500
First edition, first printing (British Publishing), original green cloth and red dust jacket.
I never really thought of very expensive books like these before so this is so interesting. Some of these prices are ridiculous though haha but I really do love winnie the pooh so that would be cool to have in a different universe ! first world history sounds really great too I cant believe its 4.7 million dollars ππ

Thank you! I absolutely love that Alice edition, I mean wood engraved who wouldn’t want that!?

Ahhh, that Jane Eyre edition! π And the other ones are pretty neat, too! π€© But since I’m absolutely stingy when it comes to money, there’d be no way I’d ever buy those when you can also get copies of the same books for under 10β¬. After all, it’s the story itself that matters! **eyes that Jane Eyre edition greedily anyway** π

It is quite bizarre when you put it that way, we’re all getting the same story in the end but these are like the Harry Winston’s of publishing and I sure do love the look of a Harry Winston π π

I want The Great Gatsby. That price though is giving me sticker shock. Maybe one day youβll be able to get one of these. Have a great day. I like your spin on the prompt for the week.
