Top 10 Summer Books for a Little bit of Sunshine

Summer is here!

I’m trying to be optimistic as much as I can, with restrictions easing up I had a lovely brunch date with my sister by the seaside; it’s been so long since we’ve done something relatively this “normal” it still feels so surreal. Summer may not be the easiest month to spend in my country however I love the sun. I love long days, daylight, and the promise of new seasons.

Though it is easy to look on the brighter side of things, I must confess as an Arab it is quite difficult to acknowledge that when so many of my brothers and sisters in Palestine are in suffering. If you’re not sure of what’s going on please look elsewhere than mainstream media and learn from your own eyes the truth. A quick look through Muna ElKurd’s instagram page (A verified Palestinian journalist from the heart of Sheikh Jarrah) will give you a clear view.

I respect my Jewish brothers and sisters, and I’m disgusted on how zionists are using Judaism as an excuse to implement the radical ideology and ethnic cleansing that is happening because of Israel. It is the same way how they would use my religion, Islam, to excuse bombings, killings, and other forms of terrorism.

Top 10 Summer Books for a Little bit of Sunshine

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau

I read it earlier this month, and it was a cute quick read! If you’d like to spend your summer in Paris, look no further than this sweet tooth of a book.

We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon

I’m reading this right now and so far I’m liking it! It has the miscommunication trope and the childhood friends to lovers trope. It’s a great blend of romance and coming of age.

The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen’s books are the epitome of sunshine, they’re my favorite comfort reads. So if you’re looking for a warm hug her books are perfect. This book involves summer loves, estranged families, and speed boats by crystal blue lakes.

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

This includes polar opposites besties with our MC breaking out of her shell through a summer bucket list. It’s always nice to have great character development and growth while still keeping it fun! The romance is so sweet too.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

What is summer without some ice cold gelato? After all “people come to Italy for some love and gelato” 😉

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

This is described as a teen spinoff on You’ve Got Mail, and you should know that You’ve Got Mail is one of my fav rom coms ever so I’m definitely reading this! This follows film geek Alex’s twisted summer in sunny California and stern security guard Porter Roth (who’s also Alex’s arch nemesis or is he…?)

Meet Me in Paradise by Libby Hubscher

Marin has always played it safe, but then her sister convinces her of a weekend trip to the Island of Scaba, except her sister misses the flight and now Marin is all alone…in paradise. This sounds like a perfect armchair travel kind of book! Oh did I mention this includes a handsome stranger by the name of Lucas Tsai 😊

Shipped by Angie Hockman

Another Island book? You bet! This has The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game vibes to it when two work rivals are up for the same position on a cruise line but are forced to actually go on said corporate cruise..together. Should be interesting.

A Cuban’s Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namey

This includes tea and baking and that is enough to pull me in but add in charming English town and charming English boy well…how can I say no?

People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

2020 saw everyone obsessed with Beach Read and this year apparently this book is on the radar too. This involves Alex and Poppy, two best friends who are polar opposites and one more glorious trip that might either result in something more or the end of their friendship…

Thanks for reading! Have you read any of these books? What are your summer reading plans?

As always follow to not miss out on the latest!

  2. Love and Gelato and Shipped are on my summer to read list. But who knows if I will ever get to reading it. Too many books and too little time, honestly.
