Wishing all my Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed Ramadan. May Allah accept all of your good deeds and prayers.
For those who are not familiar with Ramadan, it is considered a holy month in Islam where we would fast from sunrise till sunset. Prayers, reciting the Quran, giving back and generally being more in tune with your spiritual self and faith are elements that are encouraged for the person to pursue. The fasting is a humbling reminder to be mindful of those less fortunate and be thankful of the blessings you already have.
To celebrate I’ll list books written by Muslim authors!
*Little Note: I have an affiliate link to the books mentioned in the post, at no extra cost if you decide to buy via the link, your book blogger here gets a commission 😊
Books Written By Muslim Authors

The Gauntlet by Karuna Riazi
A MG novel featuring a Hijabi hero main lead is something I love to see. I’d call this book a steampunk version of Jumanji.

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal
Here’s one line to get you to read this book: “People lived because she killed. People died because he lived“. A high fantasy book inspired by Ancient Arabia about a huntress and a Prince of Death.

That Can be Arranged by Huda Fahmy
A modern reinterpretation of arranged marriage, Huda always cracks me up on Instagram and this comic hilariously dismantles the many negative connotations one attributes to arranged marriages.

The Weight of Our Sky by Hanna AlKhaf
Set up against the backdrop of Kuala Lampur in 1969 amidst racial tensions, our heroic teen MC with OCD does whatever she can to get back to her mother after being separated by the riots. Heartbreaking and breathtaking.

Under My Hijab by Hena Khan
Honoring Muslim women and girls everywhere, Khan wrote this book for the love and pride that comes with honoring and embracing one’s culture and faith.

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
This series is filled with magic and lore inspired by 18th century Cairo has recently been announced that it’s a Hugo Awards finalist! Definitely add it to your fantasy TBR.

Love from A to Z by S.K. Ali
Heartwarming yet Ali manages to touch on some deep points about Muslim women and the aggressions they face (especially if they wear the hijab) through our MC Zayneb.

The Gift of Ramadan by Rabiah York Lumbard
This feels so cute and wholesome! It definitely bought back early memories of little me first time fasting (and then breaking it…).

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi
I have heard many moving things about this book, whilst I was not in America after the events of 9/11, it is sad to see that a book written from the POV of a Muslim girl a year after the aftermath still resonates with the discrimination that Muslims face in particular in Western media and culture to this day.

Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Jalalduddin
This is dubbed as “You’ve got Mail” but set in Halal restaurants. You’ve got Mail is one of my favorite movies so I can’t wait to start this one!
Honorable Mentions
