Wooohoo I made it to see another year!
Like so many others, I’ll be spending it in quarantine since all of the shops and restaurants are closed, over virtual meet ups and calls from my friends and eating lots of cake!
What’s different is that this year I’ll be sharing my birthday with all of you guys on my platforms and blog, I’m incredibly grateful for that. I just can’t believe that less than a year and now I have friends from all corners of the globe, ya’ll are the best!
Well then, in celebration I’ll be doing the birthday book tag! The book tag’s original creator is Antonia @ Always books so do check out her awesome post!

Birthday Book Tag 🎉🎂
BIRTHDAY CAKE — a book with a plot that seems cliché but you adore it anyway.

A Curse so Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
The amount of Beauty and the Beast retellings out there is overwhelming and pair that with a love triangle you’d think the is book overbearing. However, the only thing that’s cliche about this book is the Beauty and the Beast trope but the story is so incredibly written and the characters are all beautifully flawed in their own way.
PARTY GUESTS — your most anticipated book release for this year

Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo
The first book was kind of underwhelming but Nikolai Lanstov is one of my most favorite fictional characters and I’ve missed this cinnamon roll so much so I can’t wait to read the book!
BIRTHDAY PRESENTS — a book that surprised you with how much you loved it.

Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou
Non fiction is most least read genre, but I was taken aback by how much obsessed I was with book and it made me jump into a non fiction book buying spree. It is so good!
It’s easily one of my top five reads this year, and one of my fav books generally.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY” SONG — a book that certainly deserves all the hype it got.

The Poppy War series by R.F. Kuang
I have no words to say by how incredible this series was. I still think it could have had even more hype tbh, and the only “real” hype it got was mainly on Booktwt. I did a breakdown of the series (spoiler free!) and posted my review as well; check it out.
HAPPY MUSIC — a book with some very beautiful and truly meaningful quotes.

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab
I think we can safely agree that Addie La Rue has beautiful writing, so many lyrical quotes and descriptions I’ve written down and saved. See my review of the book and my original Addie inspired playlist.
GETTING OLDER — a book that you read a long time ago but you think you would appreciate more if you read it as a more mature reader.
Shakespeare
There isn’t a book that comes to mind but I would love to read Shakespeare’s works again now that I’m older, I don’t intend to be a fan but I was always fascinated by the impact and effect he had on literature (and continues to do so today!)
SWEET BIRTHDAY MEMORIES — a book that kept you incredibly happy during a sad or demanding period of your life.

Last Chance by Sarah Dessen
I had this book way back since middle school, and it holds a special place in my heart because it got me through the tough times. The spine cracked, the pages are slightly battered, the yellowing has kind of increased but I love it all the same.
Thanks for reading! Any February babies out there too? 👀
Aaah happy birthday!! 🎉❤️

Happy (belated?) birthday, Jawahir!! I hope you had a lot of fun celebrating despite all the quarantine measures! 🎉❤ And I agree on so many of your picks! Addie LaRue and The Poppy War are amazing! And I absolutely love Shakespeare, so I’d love for you to give him another go 😊 I’d definitely recommend watching the plays as well if you get the chance – they become so much more alive that way!

Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! ❤️ Watching the plays is a tip I’ve heard a lot off! Definitely makes things less boring and more vivid lol

Happy belated birthday!! This was such a lovely post to read even though I have read none (well, except Addie Larue) of the books you mentioned, oops! I really need to get to The Poppy War soon though!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! ❤️✨ The Poppy War is a must read in my opinion but it’s pretty dark. I did a breakdown of the series if you’re want to check it out before reading! https://jawahirthebookworm.com/2021/01/16/the-poppy-war-trilogy-series-breakdown-and-review/

First of all happy birthday! Hope you had a good one.
I’ve been blogging since 2017 and I hadn’t seen this tag before. I loved it and might do it next month (I’ll give you recognition, of course).
Honestly, loved your answers.
