Where? Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Book Choice: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

I am obsessed with Korean street style, and it’s easily my favorite. I can see myself walking around the plaza checking out the art and sights before reading the book as the night creeps out and the plaza is covered with bright lights like orbs.

Wicked Fox is dubbed as a fantasy romance set in modern day Seoul so it’s a perfect pair really.

Where? Admont Abbey Library

Book Choice: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

This is one of the most beautiful libraries I’ve ever seen in my life, and one I wish I’d run my fingers along it’s shelves and stare at the stunning images displayed on the ceiling. The detail is incredible.

I was thinking a light academia book for this one since the interiors are all light and soft colors and there isn’t grotesque images usually reserved for dark gothic styles.

Book Choice: The Tiger at Midnight by Swati Teerdhala

To me this is my top tourist spot. It’s absolutely breath taking so I can’t imagine what it would look like in real life! Did you know that it changes color depending on the light? Beautiful.

A legendary monument requires an epic fantasy, hence my book choice that features a cat-mouse game between a solider and an assassin all inspired by Indian mythology

Where? Fushimi Inari Taisha

Book Choice: Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa

I’ve seen this in too much instagram pics to not want to go see it for myself. The book that I chose features a Kitsune orphan raised in a temple who ends up on an adventure with a deadly Samurai soldier in order to stop a demon legend destroying their empire.

It’s a fantastic choice to read in a hidden corner of the shrine or some secluded garden perhaps?

Where? Radcliffe Square

Book Choice: Vicious by V.E. Schwab

This is dark academia heaven, and I’m a sucker for gothic architecture and Victorian libraries. The square is right next to Bodleian Library, one of the oldest in Europe. You’ll find me hiding between the shelves or reading outside under the trees.

Vicious is literally about two college students who’s main thesis is about death and resurrection, it doesn’t get any darker than that!

Book Choice: Midnight in Chernobyl: The Untold Story of the World’s Greatest Nuclear Disaster by Adam Higginbotham

One of the greatest tragedies, but one I’m so fascinated by. I have this sense of intrigue when it comes to abandoned places. I really got into it after watching this Youtuber go urban exploring.

I can only imagine how haunting it will be reading a book about a disaster at the location of the disaster and still seeing it’s effects. I recommend the limited tv series “Chernobyl” if you want to know more about it, it’s really good!
