The Sunshine Blogger Award

I’m overwhelmed. This year has been the hardest in many ways but I’ve been blessed with this amazing community whom I managed to make great friends out of! Sienna and I quickly became twitter mutuals after we discovered that we both are obsessed with Lore Olympus (and have pure hatred for Apollo…).

So thank you so much to Sienna for tagging me for the Sunshine blogger award, and guys check out her blog for awesome bookish content 😍

Sienna’s Questions

What advice would you give your younger blogger self?

Well I literally just started blogging a few months ago so I haven’t been doing this for long but one advice that I would give pre-blogger me is “You won’t know everything, you can’t know everything, so just start the blog and stop stressing”.

What do you hope for the future of your blog?

I really hope The NEC would flesh out as a project and not just a blog. I want to keep expanding and sharing my love of reading and books to a wider audience. The NEC is a sanctuary for bookworms and potential readers and how that may evolve is not something I exactly know but I’ll excited nonetheless.

Your top five favorite books you’ve read this year?

This year has been heaven in terms of books, I discovered so many good reads! I’m squeezing my brain for this but my top five for this year are (not in any order):

  1. Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
  2. The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
  3. The Poppy War by R.F.Kuang
  4. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
  5. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
What are your favorite tropes in fiction? And Why?

I’m a sucker for romance so specifically in romance I love enemies-to-lovers, forbidden romance, star crossed lovers, opposites attract, unlikely duo who then develop feelings for each other (don’t know if that exists but you get it) And there is only one reason why I agonize myself this way: the angst.

Other tropes I love are found family, because it seems so much stronger to me especially since the characters choose to be together and have each other backs. The “Here Comes the Cavalry” Twist, you know when the MC is in a middle of a battle or face off and they’re going to die but wait! Here comes that long lost army to save the day! Yeah I know it’s overwritten and the biggest cliche but some authors do it so well! I love the intensity and excitement of it.

Why did you decide to start blogging?

Lockdown finally gave me no more excuses to stall setting up my blog. I’ve always wanted to have one but I just never got the chance to bring out to life. I was going to start a bookstagram actually but then I discovered book blogging and fell in love!

What three bloggers inspire you?

When I was starting out there were bloggers who were a real inspiration, and I learnt so much from their content and site. They’re amazing people too!

What’s your MBTI personality type? Or Enneagram Type?

My MBTI personality type is “The Advocate” INFJ – T.

What is it that you enjoy the most about blogging?

Getting to talk and rant about books! Also meeting and making friends in this wonderful community.

Do you listen to music when reading or do you prefer silence?

I much prefer silence. I get distracted easily.

Do you do any writing other than your blog?

Once upon a time I did attempt to write a novel once but I got swarmed up by uni work and never got a chance to go back to it. But not going to lie I’m thinking about it!

Which one book has had a major impact on your life?

The Sun does Shine by Anthony Ray Hinton. I read this as part of my uni’s book club and it the story and writing of the book lifts you up like no other book. It’s the best memoir I’ve ever read.

I Nominate the following Bloggers: (Because ya’ll brighten up my day)

▪️ Briana and Krysta at Pages Unbound

▪️ Alissa at Alissa’s Booktopia

▪️ Anne at Books, Baking, and Blogging

▪️ Stacy, Justin, Nicole at A Court of Books and Coffee

▪️ Confessions of a YA reader

▪️ Marie and Nyx at Drizzle and Hurricane books

▪️ Chelsey at The Traveling Reader

▪️ Lia Carstairs at A Chain of Novels

▪️ Kate at The Quick and Read

▪️ Tracy at Truffle’s Literary Wonders

▪️ Tasya at The Literary Huntress

My Questions
  • What’s one advice you can give to those in a reading slump ?
  • What are your top 3 anticipated releases for 2021?
  • Who is an author you’ve discovered and loved this year?
  • What is a genre you wish you’d read more of?
  • Who is a fictional character you wish your family would adopt?
  • What is a fictional trope you’re tired off?
  • What’s a skill you want to learn or wish you knew?
  • What number do you consider a “low rating” of a book?
  • A book that makes you tear up just by looking at the cover?
  • I love weird questions so here’s one: Would you rather have the ability to speak to animals or know and speak every language in the world?
  • Would you rather be invisible or be able to read minds?

This award means so much to me and out of every award I’ve been nominated from this taps on my heart because I want to be exactly the blogger that fits the award description so I appreciate it so much!

To my fellow nominated bloggers, you are under no pressure at all to answer this and if you’re already nominated than congrats you’re a ray of sunshine in the book community!

As always subscribe or follow to not miss anything!
