This is inspired by a post I’ve read a while back, and while I’m pretty sure I saved the post to reference back to it later WordPress is adamant I haven’t saved anything…oh well 🙂
I feel so bad for not remembering the blog or the post, but because I saw this a while back and have a memory of a scatterbrain mouse I can’t place a name to it. Ultimately I don’t take credit for this idea.
I’ve been getting more and more into tea recently especially the flavored ones because there are so many variations and so many pairings. I was an aggressive anti-tea drinker but I’m so happy I gave other options a go because now I can’t imagine not having a cup of tea once and a while. Still can’t handle the taste of black tea though.
Best yet, all of the teas mentioned here are from independent businesses and makers who personally source their teas ethically from the farmers!
Motherhood Tea Blend

Book Choice: If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha
Tea Type: Oolong teas

I really focused on the word “Beauty” here. The tea is handpicked oolong with orange blossoms and honey taste notes.
If I Had Your Face takes the concept of beauty quite literally with a look on the very high beauty standards ingrained in Korean culture. Hence I thought it tied nicely with the book.

Dragon Pearls
Book Choice: The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
Tea Type: Low Caffeine, green teas

Apart from the majestic sounding tea title, The Poppy War features grimdark fantasy and ruthless brutality so it’s no wonder that the legendary yet monstrous creature is befitting to the book.
The buds or “small pearls” unfold themselves when you pour hot water, so that’s a sight to see!

Ceylon Orange Pekoe
Book Choice: A Cuban’s Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow by Laura Taylor Namely

This tea is classified as “classic British”, with hints of citron, baked goods, nutty walnut notes.
Lela is a baker who’s whisked away to the British countryside for a rested vacation, I can’t help but think this may be her new favorite!

Tsutsuji Sencha
Book Choice: Tokyo Ever After by Emiko Jean
Tea Type: Green teas, premium

Sencha is probably the most popular Japanese green tea. This particular blend is handpicked and is all about being refined and sophisticated. Quite similar to where our protagonist Izumi finds herself when she discovers she’s a long lost princess of Japan. (The Princess Diaries anyone?)

This tea blend combines the fragrant notes of roses and the sweetness of grape and honey. I can’t help but think back to the wild faerie courts in Black’s The Folk of Air series. Plus the title really fits Jude Duarte as she finds herself thrust into the viperous court of Elfhame.

Book Choice: A Sisterhood of Secret Ambitions by Sheena Boekweg

Ruby is a rich complex blend that features a fruity sweetness and yet a tropical tanginess to it. Ruby is all about balancing between the rich and sweet, not too strong and not too sweet, which in turn reminds me heavily of the sisterhood featured in Boekweg’s book whom rely on matchmaking and tea parties to achieve its purpose.

Chamomile Flower Infusion

Chamomile is one of the most relaxing types of tea. It’s calming nature is often associated with nature and serenity. Teatulia’s blend promises the aroma of “fresh flower meadows”.
So it is not strange that I have chosen Diary of a Young Naturalist, written by 14 year old (Yes 14!!) autistic writer and naturalist Dara in which he shares how he sees the world through his connection to wildlife via diary entries.

I’m always turning to coffee instead of tea, but I’d eventually like to get into tea and become a tea gal because there are so many unique kinds and flavors!! I do really like green tea, so am going to have to try some of your recs (: Loved this!!! ♥

this is such an amazing, creative post!! i’m more of a coffee drinker, but occasionally i will curl up with a green tea, or chamomile!! this list of recs (for both the books and the tea!!) was amazing!! the cruel prince has been on my tbr for a while, so i think when i read it, i’ll sip some royal courtesan//oolong!! i loved this post! 😊
