TTT | Book Titles that Would Make Amazing Musical Numbers

I have so much love for musicals and the performance arts in general, I knew I had to implement them someway into this week’s TTT. So I’ll be picking out book titles that I think would make great song titles in a musical!

TTT is a fun bookish weekly meme created by theartsyreadergirl where you list your top 10s based on a different theme each week. I’ll link up her TTT if you would like to participate or know more.

Books That Would Make Amazing Musical Numbers

Book Title | None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney

Musical | Heathers

I imagine J.D having this villianous monologue in an abandoned school hallway or watching him strapping the bomb around himself. Heathers is probably one of the best 80s high school movies (I also love The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off), plus Christian Slater was my introduction into the attraction of toxic, evil, bad boys.

Book Title | All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Musical | Les Miserables

The book title has such a poetic feel to it that I thought would slip in greatly into Les Miserables’s soundtrack. I imagine this having the same tone as the song “One Day”; a strong moving ballad with the whole cast.

Book Title | The Gentleman Thief by Kate Gragg

Musical | Chicago

This would defintely be the swavy intro for the enigmatic yet slightly crooked hotshot lawyer Billy Flynn in Chicago. These two words describe his personality accurately! Fun fact: The original 1926 play was written by reporter Maurine Walkins which is based on actual crimes and criminals she wrote about!

Book Title | The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur

Musical | Aida

I’m sucker for star-crossed lovers trope, and Aida is no exception. It is about the forbidden love between Aida, a captured Nubian princess, and General Radames, an Egyptian captain whose people are responsible for enslaving the Nubians. I can just imagine this title a solo love ballad sung by Radames dedicated towards his love.

Fun fact: This was also based on a true story!

Book Title | The Last Tiara by M.J. Rose.

Musical | Anastasia

One of the most memorable animated movies ever made and the musical is no less iconic! This title fits so well when we take a look at Anastasia wearing the tiara realizing she is the last of her royal bloodline.

Book Title | Where the Rhythm Takes You by Sarah Dass

Musical | In the Heights

If you’re familiar with In the Heights, you’ll most likely be familiar with the show stopping and vibrant melodies of Latin inspired music. The title fits right in with the musical’s premise about daring to dream big.

Book Title | If We Ever Meet Again by Ana Huang

Musical | The King and I

Every time I think of The King and I, I think of a really young and cute Tom Felton 😭 ❤️. So what a better titled farewell song between Anna and the King than this!?

Book Title | Loveless by Alice Osman

Musical | The Last Five Years

This musical is really complex and heavy, told by the dual point of view of Cathy and Jamie as they reflect back intimately on their failed marriage from two perspectives. I can’t help but think that at one point they must have felt “Loveless“.

Book Title | Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Johanneau

Musical | An American in Paris

World War II veteran Julie choose Paris as her new beginning, and there she meets a dancer Lise. What happens next is a whirlwind romance with glitzy numbers with the city of light acting as the backdrop to the couple’s love story.

Book Title | The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Musical | Mean Girls

This title oozes out sass and villainy, so what better than to dedicate this too than Regina George herself.

Hope guys liked this week’s TTT! Are you a fan of musicals?

If you wrote a TTT, link up your post below. I would love to check them out!
